About Us
We’ve been serving Newtown with love since 1982, when our parents, Despina and Kleanthis “Clem” Tsakalides, opened the doors to Clem’s Chicken Shop. Back then, Newtown wasn’t the buzzing, vibrant place it is today—it was a little rough around the edges—but we saw the opportunity to bring something special to the community. From the very beginning, we’ve been all about hearty roast chicken, comforting home-style meals that people still come back for. Over the years, we’ve watched the suburb transform, but through all the changes, we’ve stayed true to our roots: serving delicious food with a smile and a bit of Greek flair.
Our Story
For more than four decades, Clem’s has been more than just a takeaway—it’s been a part of the neighbourhood’s heart. We’ve been through the ups and downs, but there’s always been more good than bad, and that’s why we’re still here. We’re proud to have won Sydney’s Inner West Small Business Awards for ‘Best Fastfood/Takeaway’ in both 2022 and 2023, but awards aside, what matters most to us is serving everyday people, just like we always have. From our humble beginnings to today, our goal hasn’t changed—we’re here to make great food for our community, and we’ll keep doing it for as long as we can.
